Research and Early Development
Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development, L.L.C. (J&JPRD) in La Jolla, California was established to be a leading biotechnology center with the ambitious mission of converting genomic discoveries into marketable drugs. Our world-class biologists and chemists join forces to discover novel therapeutic agents that address unmet medical needs in inflammation, immunosuppression, inflammatory pain, central nervous system disorders, and metabolic diseases. Over 200 scientists comprise the Therapeutic, Enabling, and Early Development teams that drive research on campus.

J&JPRD La Jolla's beautiful 307,000 square-foot research facility, completed in 2004, was custom designed to provide an open and flexible environment that fosters collaborative drug discovery. In 2005, the building received the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification for New Construction (LEED^®-NC certification) from the U.S. Green Building Council.
