Charitable Contributions
Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research & Development, L.L.C. (J&JPRD) will consider requests for support of charitable activities in communities in which we live and work.

This area provides information about the requirements and process for requesting a charitable contribution. Also included are links to the appropriate forms.

Please note that, beginning October 3, 2008, J&JPRD will begin posting quarterly reports on our public company website that display information regarding all charitable contributions we provide. This disclosure will include the name of your organization, the monetary value of the payment made in the quarter we provided it and the purpose(s) for the funding.

Requirements:

Our contributions program demonstrates the company's leadership in the area of corporate social responsibility.

Charitable contributions are only provided to organizations or institutions with documented 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.

Charitable contributions from J&JPRD cannot constitute 20% or more of the budget for the event or activity being supported.

The contribution must be related to a disease state or community initiative of interest to J&JPRD:
  • Health and human services - such as contributions to programs in disease prevention, children's health, and access to health care, and
  • Community needs - J&JPRD encourages giving to activities aimed at meeting basic community needs in locations where the Family of Companies has a presence:
    • New Jersey - Mercer County, Somerset County, Hunterdon County and surrounding areas
    • Pennsylvania - Montgomery County and surrounding area
    • California - La Jolla and surrounding areas
    • Massachusetts - Boston and surrounding areas
    • Metropolitan areas in need within the range of J&JPRD sites (Trenton, Newark, Philadelphia, Reading and others)


J&JPRD does not make funding or products available directly to indigent patients through Patient Assistance Programs.

J&JPRD does not supply charitable contributions contingent on the use of, or as an inducement to use, products or services from the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies.

J&PRD will not make contributions on behalf of, or in the name of, a health care professional (HCP) entity or to an organization of the HCP's choice. This will include hospitals, universities, and other institutions in addition to just doctors.

Additionally, J&JPRD does not extend support for:
  • Loans
  • Individuals, such as scholarships or direct grants. Contributions are made only to qualified non-profit organizations.
  • Trips or tours
  • Political, fraternal, or athletic groups, including candidates for office
  • Sectarian and religious organizations that do not serve the general public on a nondenominational basis
  • Capital requests, such as building campaigns or endowments of any kind (i.e., "bricks & mortar" projects)
  • Organizations whose missions/objectives do not meet our corporate contributions guidelines
  • Appeals for unrestricted funds
How To Apply:

A multi-disciplinary committee will review all requests for contributions. The Committee must approve all requests for compliance with all applicable policies and guidelines and for funding prior to a commitment to a requesting organization.

All requests must be submitted at least two months prior to any scheduled charitable activity to be supported by the provision in order to ensure sufficient time for processing and to enable a response prior to any deadline for J&JPRD acknowledgment in any printed materials.
